OVERVIEW

Our radiology service offers a full range of scans and imaging to diagnose and treat diseases for patients. The Radiology Department provides diagnostics for in-patients, out-patients, emergency patients, and GPs of all ages. The department operates 24 hours a day, led by an experienced team of radiologists and radiographers. Our team collaborates closely with other clinical departments to ensure a seamless pathway of care for patients.

OUR SERVICES

General Radiography

X-ray imaging produces pictures of soft tissues, bones, or organs. The part of the body exposed to X-ray receives a small dose of radiation to generate images from multiple angles. X-rays are employed for examining the skull, chest, abdomen, pelvis, upper, and lower extremities. During an X-ray, a focused radiation beam passes through your body, and a black-and-white image is recorded on a special film or a computer.

Computed Tomography (CT scan)

CT scan, an advanced X-ray technique, employs a series of very thin X-rays and a sliding table to obtain multiple images, providing high-resolution 3D images of the body's internal organs. These high-resolution 3D images assist radiologists and clinicians in making more precise diagnoses and surgical plans. Some CT scans may require the use of contrast, a medication that highlights your organs or blood vessels for greater detail. Our centre utilizes the compact and user-friendly Siemens Somatom X.cite 384-slice CT scanners, ensuring rapid and accurate data generation.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

MRI is a non-invasive, radiation-free diagnostic exam that typically takes about 45 minutes per examination. This cutting-edge diagnostic study utilizes a strong magnetic field and radio waves to produce sharply detailed images of your entire body. Our MRI services are designed to provide a comfortable and relaxed experience for patients, including the elderly and individuals who may be anxious or claustrophobic. We employ the Siemens Magnetom Essenza 1.5 Tesla for your scanning comfort.

Digital Fluoroscopy

Digital Fluoroscopy, a form of real-time X-ray, enables the viewing of deep structures within the body. It provides incredibly detailed images of the function and structure of areas such as the intestines, bladder, cardiac muscle, and stomach.

Mammography

A mammogram is a specialized x-ray examination of the breasts and is one of the most effective tools for early breast cancer detection. It can identify cancer at an early stage before it can be felt manually. Early detection leads to better survival rates and more treatment options. Mammograms are recommended for those aged 40 and above; individuals younger than 40 may benefit from ultrasound breast scanning. A physician referral is not required for an annual screening mammogram.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a common diagnostic procedure and an excellent non-invasive imaging technique for examining various organs in the body without the use of x-ray radiation. High-frequency sound waves are employed to create images by bouncing off the body, making it safe, simple, and easily tolerated by adults, children, and pregnant mothers.

Mobile Radiography

Imaging can be performed outside the radiology department using mobile X-ray equipment to capture X-rays of patients who cannot visit the radiology department. Mobile radiography is vital in special care units, such as intensive care, coronary care, cardiac surgery, neonatal intensive care, emergency departments, operating rooms, and post-anaesthesia care units.

Guided Interventional Radiology

Interventional Radiology is a specialized branch of radiology that employs various imaging techniques, including ultrasound, fluoroscopy, or CT scans, to guide the insertion of small instruments and tools through blood vessels and the body. This is done to identify and treat medical disorders without the need for traditional surgery.
